Is it just me or is the Summer flying?!
It’s already been almost a month since I put out my last post, and since then I’ve patronized so many Black businesses that I can barely keep track. I’m realizing that I’m going to have to pair some of the reviews together in order to post them all. I’m also going to do better with posting on more of a routine basis so that I can give myself enough time to write these posts and get them out. I recently received some goodies from two of my good friends who also happen to be entrepreneurs, so of course I absolutely HAVE to tell you guys all about them. The first product up for review is a scrub from STS Essentials, which is my friend Shan’s Spa Product line.
To be honest, I never used to be a big “Self-Care” kind of girl. That could be due to me always being in a rush (Can’t help it, it’s the Brooklyn in me), and also due to me just being too lazy to spend a bunch of time exfoliating and taking care of my skin. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized the importance of really paying attention to the products I use on my body. When I first met Shan, she was in the process of relaunching her Spa line, and she was starting out with candles only. I immediately purchased, and although it sounds corny and cliche, I instantly felt the “love” she put into her products. Everything is handmade, vegan, and cruelty free, and they all smell amazing! Since the original relaunch she has expanded into linen sprays and body products. I recently purchased her newest product which is called: Some Suga Body Scrub, and it is EVERYTHING!
As I said, back in the day I was never really into “Self-Care” but now I might be a bit of a guru, at least when it comes to my own personal self-care. With that being said, I have become somewhat obsessed with body scrubs, and I feel like I know a good one when I see it. This one from STS Essentials is definitely one of the best I’ve tried! At first scoop it feels almost like a grainy paste, and then in slowly starts to dissolve and melt into your body. It has just enough grain to give your body a gentle-medium scrub, but it still leaves your skin feeling soft and clean after using. Plus it smells amazing! I absolutely love it! I’m trying my best not to use it more than the recommended time which is twice weekly, but I can’t make any promises. You can purchase your scrub on their website: www.stsessentials.com. I just used some this morning and now that I’m so fresh and so clean I’m going to take the time to enjoy this beautiful weekend. Today I’m rocking my Domencio Montana T-shirt:
This shirt was given to me by my friend Domencio, who is a Black film maker from Brooklyn. He recently debuted his first project: The Domencio Montana Story, which is a documentary based on his dad: Domencio “Montana” Benson. For those who don’t know, Domencio Montana was a legend in Brooklyn during the 80s-90s, and people have been waiting for decades to get the inside scoop on his life and untimely demise. His son (Little Domencio) has been working on the documentary for years, and he finally released it on Vimeo in July. It’s sooo good, and I promise I’m not just saying that because he’s my friend lol. The documentary was very well received by everyone who watched it, and Domencio also decided to bring out a line of merch in honor of his dad. You can purchase the shirt and the documentary here on his website: www.DomencioMontanaStory.com
Here’s the trailer for those who haven’t seen it.
That’s all I have for now. I promise I’ll start posting more frequently. Let me know which other Black businesses I should check out! In the mean time you can keep up with me on Instagram @your.bff.stef.
